I have the official school calendar and the last day of school is supposed to be Dec 21st.
Not sure why we have this extended vacation but I am sure that Lyle’s class is supposed to have testing on the 2nd block of work in Jalisco educational system issued school books and that they are only 2/3 of the way through the 2nd block. I'm also sure that in the last 4 weeks we have not had one full week of school, either ending early of days completely off because the teachers have meetings they need to attend. I guess meetings after the 1:00 hour (when school gets out) is out of the question.
I’m completely baffled by the school system here in La Manzanilla. We will be working with Lyle over the holiday break to finish the block. I’m thinking this time next year we will be homeschooling.

My elementary school kiddies have a half day of school tomorrow and posada on Friday. The kinder is also having their posada on Friday. And the Secundaria also has a half day tomorrow, no school on Friday and their posada on Monday. Sometimes I wish all the schools would sync their schedules! :D
The school not following the "official" calendar is not surprising. It happens all the time! My sister-in-law, who is also a teacher, says that although the kiddies start their vacation early, the teachers still have to go to work to wrap up paper work, attend union meetings and courses and finally they get to celebrate their own posada!
Muy Bueno idea - Home School rules! We home schooled our son his entire education - he now makes a six figure income and has for a couple of years - (he is 19 years old by the way). Oh and he has no college loans to payoff. ;-)
